Just a quickie to share a couple of photos I took on the way home from work. This is the River Tawe. The river starts off in the Black Mountain by Llyn y Fan Fawr (which you’ve seen here before if you’ve read my other posts). After today’s deluge, it rose over its banks near Llansamlet and flooded the (very) recently completed flood defence basin (to the right in the photo). You can just about make out the course and width of the river by the line of trees and bushes. There probably no more than 3 feet of wall holding back the water at the lowest point of the road.

Below: The foot path was closed for the flood defence work to take place. In the distance is the main road into Swansea from the M4.

Below: These trees normally stand well clear of the river. To their left, just below the raised path, the water has flooded the bank to become about 20 yards wider on that side.
